  • Assistant Research Scientist, Goddard Earth Sciences and Technology (GEST) Center/University of Maryland, Baltimore County

This is a research grant funded position and subject to the funding approval. The applicant must have a demonstrated research record in according with the specific qualification listed for the position. Requires Ph.D. in atmospheric sciences and related fields and five or more years of research experiences listed as follows:

(1) Strong experience in cloud resolving model (CRM). This includes the experiences on the coupling varies physical packages in the model and experience on the chemical tracer transport using the model.

(2) Experience in using the coupled wrf and land surface model. This includes the experiences in using the model for the
regional climate simulation, the real-time weather forecasting, flood forecasting study, and chemical tracer transport.

(3) Experience in using the satellite data for validation of the model results and program experience (FORTRAN, unix Shell scripts, Pearl) in using the different data sets for model initial and boundary conditions for CRM and wrf are also required.

(4) Familiar with the several model visualization packages such as AVS, VIS5D and GRADS.

  • Tenure Track and Postdocroral Positions in Data Analysis Methodology, National Central University

The Center for Adaptive Data Analysis Research (CADAR), at the National Central University (NCU), Chungli, Taiwan, invites applicants for 4 to 5 tenure
track faculty members to start immediately. The incumbent will also hold a joint position with one of the academic graduate programs at NCU, where he will have a light teaching load of one course per semester. The positions, with rank open, will be filled within the next couple of years. CADAR is a newly founded research center dedicated to developing and exploring the potential of various adaptive data analysis methods to study nonlinear and nonstationary processes (Empirical Mode Decomposition, for example), and also to the applications of adaptive data analysis methods to solve practical problems. We are looking for candidates with background in the following areas: applied mathematics, physics and engineering with special interest in climate changes, structure safety, nondestructive health monitoring, bio-medical, financial data, and data from other complex systems.
