Brief Bio

Dr. Wei-Jun Cai obtained his B.S. in Oceanography in 1982 from Xiamen University, China, M.S. in Marine Chemistry in 1985 from the Shandong College of Oceanography, China (now Ocean University of China), and Ph.D. in Oceanography in 1992 from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California at San Diego, USA. He was a professor in the Department of Marine Sciences at the University of Georgia from 1994 to 2012. Currently, he is Mary A. S. Lighthipe Chair Professor of Earth, Ocean and Environment and the Associate Dean for Research, the College of Earth, Ocean and Environment at the University of Delaware. He is an expert in ocean and estuarine carbon cycle and biogeochemistry and an author of 245 publications. Dr. Cai is Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the American Geophysical Union (AGU), Geochemical Society (GS) and European Association of Geochemistry (EAG), and the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO).
