COAA Histroy
The Chinese-American
Oceanic and Atmos-pheric
Association (COAA)
was founded in 1993, by an active
group of Chinese-American professionals
in the oceanic and atmospheric sciences
in the Greater Washing-ton DC area.
It was to serve a growing num-ber
of their colleagues working in government
agencies and the academia as well
as the private industry.
Over the years,
COAA's membership grew quickly, and
extended steadily to other geo-graphical
areas in the US and to overseas Chinese
communities. Today, COAA has approaching
300 members worldwide, who enjoy the
networking and professional activi-ties
of international conferences, technical
workshops, and regular social gatherings,
and engage in educational and outreach
activities, all organized and provided
by COAA via the operation of a 9-member
Board of Directors and various committees.
